Straight people don't have to hide their sexuality for fear of societal retaliation, which is one reason you donb't see straight people looking for anonymous sex in the park. I don't condone public sex by gays or lesbians, mainly because I agree that sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander--if straight people are forbidden from public sex, gays and lesbians should be, too. But, again, the Kansas (and Texas) laws are designed to prohibit all gay/lesbian sexual relations, whether public or in the privacy of a home. These laws have even been used to interpret public identification of oneself as LGBT as an offense.

Both states specifically single out sex between persons of the same gender as an offense.
