A tomato plant is life too.The question is: do you consider a one month old fetus to be a person? Good sarcastic comment thrown in there. Yes, I consider a one-month-old fetus to be a person. I'm not a woman either. Does that mean that when a woman kills another woman, it's none of my business? Men can't get pregnant, women can. That's better reasoning but still unacceptable if someone considers a fetus to be an actual person. It's like saying that gangland murders are OK if done by professional hitmen rather than by coked-up teenagers because it's safer that way. As I've stated before, the rules change after the baby was born (and also the later on in the pregnancy a woman gets). And, yes, I think gang murders done by professional hit men are better than done by coked-up teenagers because it IS safer that way. But any gang murder is wrong. People who believe personhood begins at conception or shortly thereafter call it a genocide. That is one of the definitions of mass murder on such a scale. I don't consider it to be genocide. And the point of this post is that YOU are arguing that I consider abortion to be murder. What other people call it is irrelevant in the context of your argument. Your moral underpinnings should not be conditioned on what the majority feels but on what you think is right and wrong. The majority is often immoral and you should not feel obligated to go along with them when something is not just simply wrong but inherently evil. They're not. Not once have I said that abortion was not wrong. I believe it is. I, however, do not feel that I should impose MY position on this issue upon other people. I don't think that there is anything wrong with gay marriage either. However, I'm not going to enter into a Catholic church, stand up on the altar, and tell everyone there that they need to allow gays to get married in the Church. |
