It's not philosophical "gibberish" at all, but established medical FACT. A fetus is attached to, and completely dependent on, the mother until it reaches a level of development where it can survive (or be kept alive mechanically) outside the womb. (I will grant that a neonate being kept on life support while it finishes its development into a full-fledged baby, is considered by some to still be a fetus, but the hospital will tell you a neonate is a baby.)Fetuses are not alive in the true sense of the word while still in the womb. |
