That's where I always wanted to live once I get out of college. I love the history of the East Coast, and I heard it's beautiful in Boston!The thing to remember is that you cannot eat history. History may be quaint, but when it's February and your heating bills are through the roof because your colonial house has no insulation, it takes a true romantic to still love it. When you realize that all the companies are relocating to places where rent is lower and the Feds don't want to spend money up here creating jobs because "we're too liberal"... you have to make the cash flow somehow. But other than that, I love it here, and I've been here for four years. I've had to teach high school just to make rent (but actually I have always wanted to teach anyway, so it was just a great excuse to do it when engineering hit the craps after the Big Dig ended), and I've had my fair share of mishaps. But I haven't left yet and I don't know when I will. (Sounding like a true New Englander.) You sound like my girlfriend. She is from Olkaholma and she moved to Boston "to be with the history". :) AEM7AC |
