While it is true that Islam is certainly no friend of the gay community, my concern here is that if we permit the construction of a mosque to be blocked today (because we don't like its proposed location), what will we prohibit tomorrow? A gay/lesbian community center, because it's too close to a mosque, church, or synagogue? A synagogue because it's next door to a mosque? A church because it abuts an atheist meeting hall? |
