It was released in January 1981. It was the second release of their 1980 Album Autoamerican. It did reach #1 on Billboard Hot 100. This song was not the first rap song ever it is the first one reach the top 100 on the charts. There were several predecessors but "Rapture" was definitely the first to reach the holy grail of #1. |
