In this case, however, zoning law issues are moot. If landmarking is denied, the mosque can proceed once the demolition permits are issued and a valid architecture plan is approved by the Buildings Department.This would be an "as of right development", meaning that all zoning requirements are already met. Of course, what those opposing the mosque believe is that if the building is landmarked, it may end up being destroyed anyway---by fire. |
