Mind you, I'm sure that a good number of those who voted for Barack Obama to receive the prize wouldn't now vote for him now that they have seen the comparison between their preferences and the man's performance in office.Correct. And that's why it was absurd. He shouldn't have gotten it that early on. People should be winning the award for what they DID do, not for what they may do. The integrity of the Nobel Peace Prize was hit long before that, many times. It's the political Nobel and sadly, the one that gets the most attention. The guys who toil for years in medicine, chemistry, literature, economics, and physics, who really deserve the popular recognition rarely ever get it, though the money's not bad at all. I do agree with that, but this was the final humiliation for it. Now it really is nothing more than a joke. |
