Same thing happened to Southwest. A small hole turns in to a breakup in mid-air.In the case of the Aloha flight, they think that the stewardess sealed the hole with her body, causing stress to the rest of the plane, causing more damage, and killing her in the process. Back to American, I'm sure they knew about the cracks, and figured they could get away with it. It's probably the norm in the airline industry. Can't make money if the planes are always going to the mechanic. |
