Speaking of "Mexicans" working in evry restaurants, we have a funny phenomena in Brooklyn and Queens, and that is "Chinese Mexican Restaurants"....they turned up about 10 years ago, and the restaurant looks like your typical Chinese take out when you walk in, is run by Chinese, and the Menu even looks like your typical Chinese Menu, but is "MExican".They've been around longer than that. The best eggplant in garlic sauce I've ever had was from the long-gone Empire Mexican on St. Mark's Place, but I think they closed around 1997. Another place I frequented was Manna's Soul Food on Broadway near Flushing Avenue, also Chinese owned. |
