Meanwhile, the Dems are disappointing their base.If Democrats are savvy, they should push an immigration bill. Strategically, their best hope of success is Republican infighting, and an issue like that dividing the GOP would be advantageous. Sure it's dirty, but politics is dirty. GITMO probably won't be closed, we're sending more troops to Afghanistan, and I didn't see a tax hike in the 2010 Tax Brackets. I'm fine with leaving GTMO open (we spent enough money - why not use it?) and I don't want to see income tax rates increase (what's wrong with me deciding where I want to spend my money?). I think that President Obama's Afghanistan policy is fatally flawed, though. We're just propping up an incompetent leader in Hamid Karzai and doing little to nothing effective to foster good governance. |
