I don't have time to do it now, as I am on my way out the door, but pull up "1500 Canal St" in google maps and look at the street view. It will put you right in front of the "abandoned" old Radison Hotel, that is now boarded up, it closed after the flood. Then pan towards the river.It's hard to compare to the "pre hurricane" scene there, as these images are afterwards, and not many people around anymore :( but even now, it's not "THAT" bad. Canal St was seedy before the flood, but was on the "rebound" when I first stayed there. Unfortunately, that "rebound" was hindered terribly by the flood, and the subsequent loss of people. |
