Posted by SMAZ on Wed Nov 18 10:41:51 2009, in response to Re: New York Neighborhoods, posted by BrooklynBus on Wed Nov 18 10:27:27 2009. Saw the web site you posted. Don't agree. It doesn't show neighborhood boundaries which I believe is what he was asking for. It shows Community Board boundaries and the neighborhoods within them but no boundaries. The map I was thinking of if I could find it showed actual boundaries for neighborhoods of Brooklyn.Boundaries of neighborhoods have always been subject to dispute and controversy and have moved over the decades unless there is an actual geographical barrier (river, creek, etc). No such map will ever exist. That link is about as good as it gets. It was only a few weeks ago that we had a thread here over the boundary between LIC and Astoria. Neigborhoods tend to bleed into each other with common buffer areas that are subject to any individual resident's or business's preference. |
