Just because the USPS says those are the neighborhood boundaries doesn't necessarily make it so.

Uhhh, they do in Queens. if you are in Middle Village, you are in 11379. Clear cut, for all lof Queens. (with a few rare exceptions, such as Ridgewood/Glendale, which share 11385, but that is because of the quirky fact that Ridgewood used to be served out of the Brooklyn Post office, even though in Queens, but that is a whole other topic, and an anormality there).
So yes, Queens is divided up by zip code, which is also the divisions of neighborhood. CLEAR CUT.
