I would go to Mays in Jamaica after school to buy his albums (which were really weird for the '60's (brown shoes don't make it)). Then there was this small record store on 165th Street where I bought the Fugs and Pearls before Swine (NOT even close to main-stream groups). Those were the days: Tompkins Square Park, the Ukies on the neighboring streets, the activities I left 30 something years behind me, oh well: you can't go home again (and if you could, would you want to?). |
