The last time I was in Tijuana with a friend, the first thing I heard upon passing through the turnstiles into Mexico was the cab driver yelling to me in English: "Hey, you want me to take you to see the girls? You wanna get some action?"

The first thing we encountered upon entering Nuevo Laredo were young men saying "You want doctor? Dentist? Pharmacy? Optician?" From what I gather, many American who don't have health insurance cross into Mexico for cheap medical care. Given the squalor of Nuevo Laredo I cannot even begin to imagine what the quality of the care must be like.

There also were couple of drink hustlers outside of bars (Beer? Pina colada?") I'd sooner have drunk out of a clogged toilet in a homeless shelter during an amoebic dysentery epidemic.
