Does Elon Musk deserve blame for the collapse of the job market? |

Posted by Peter Rosa on Sun Aug 30 23:33:52 2026 A theory I read a week or so ago. Elon Musk bought Twitter in the fall of 2022 and soon canned two thirds of its employees. The thing is, Twitter’s functionality was barely affected, even with so much of its staff gone it continued to work just about as well as it ever did.That was bad enough, but the heads of countless other businesses saw what happened with Twitter and got the same idea. Mass layoffs have become routine. Of course, even if this hadn’t started with Musk and Twitter it probably would have started somewhere else. |
