I don't often hear "Merry Christmas" after maybe December 26th.Advent has 4 Sundays and ends on December 24th (that is, the start of Advent is the Sunday 3 weeks before the last Sunday before Christmas). The "12 days of Christmas" end on Epiphany, traditionally January 6th but now celebrated by the Catholic Church on the first Sunday in January. Not sure what the Episcopalians do about Epiphany. And of course various Orthodox Christians still use the Julian calendar and so Christmas is delayed by about 11 days or so. |
