Doesn't the White House have status as an historical national landmark?

And if so how come there was no public review or due process? I have no problem with rebuilding the interior, altering the exterior would violate it's landmark status.

As much as I favor President Trump, I am not completely on board with this, whether tax payers money are being used or not.

The White House is a temporary residence for the President, not a castle.
