I don't support the proposal, or most any Mamdani proposal, but this isn't really confiscation, it's just a change in the calculation of property tax rates.The assessment cap removal is not confiscation, but it is pretty radical. The real estate taxes my neighbors and I would pay (which are already 50% of all our annual operational expenses) would quintuple if the cap were removed. |
