Yeah sure, like that.

Egypt had far, far greater resources in 1973 than Hamas had in 2023.

Egypt's incursion into the Sinai didn't get anywhere near Israel.

So I would say that the buffer zone in 1973 was very successful at defending Israel against a huge array of forces.
