There are detransitioners. These people are routinely scorned by some in the LGBT community.

The problem is that there is some real science and medicine behind sex change, but it’s politicized, and from both sides.

In terms of surgery, it used to be that gender reassignment surgery was a necessary prerequisite for being considered fully transitioned, but nowadays there’s equivocation on that. Plenty of clinics will put patients on HRT readily, and the surgery is thought of as unnecessary. Ultimately, it’s none of my business, but being a bleeding-heart lib, I don’t like to see people being led astray and ruin their bodies and their lives unnecessarily.
