Interesting idea from Steve Sailer:The kind of sickos who carry out school shootings tend to not have access to illegal handguns. Say you are a 13 year old who has decided to commit to Thug Life and thus needs a gun because otherwise various Thug Life guys might shoot you. You probably have a cousin who has a friend who knows a guy who can get you a gun. Thug Life guys tend to have lots of friends. On the other hand, say you are a transgender potential school shooter. You probably don’t have any friends other than the people online who told you to go trans. Everybody in meatspace who actually knows you thinks you are a dangerous loon. Nobody who actually knows you would sell you a gun. So your only chance of obtaining a gun is through normal retail trade from people who don’t know you. That raises the question of what should be the policy for point-of-sale gun control. Should transgenderism be a red flag preventing anybody from legally buying a gun? Doubt this will ever happen. |
