That's because people thought that "intoxicating liquors . . . for beverage purposes" meant hard liquors like whiskey and rye, and not wine and beer.And that makes gun control actually analogous to alcohol prohibition: People think that gun control means just banning what people call "assault rifles"*, and don't realize that it would mean a ban on all firearms. *Which few can seem to define. |
