True, but:

- More or less of the fat and sugar you ingest can go out in your poop.

- More or less of the fat and sugar you ingest can be converted to heat that your body radiates. This is based both on how much exercise you undertake as well as your innate metabolism. There is no reason to disbelieve that to some degree your metabolism can be affected by the substances you ingest.
