Re: Iran Currently Attacking Israel (3pm edt)

Concerned is the adjective. The cousins of my generation are all gone but their children and grandchildren live in Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan where missiles exploded. Another branch lives near Haifa but the damage isn't as extensive.

It would appear that a greater percentage of Iranian missiles and drones are penetrating Israel's Iron Dome than a year ago. This may be partly due to the Trump administration providing just limited support in anti-missile defenses. That defense has been limited to protecting US assets like military bases and naval ships rather than protecting Israel. That's a stark difference from the support given during the Biden administration.

The Trump administration has sought to distance itself from Israel's attack. There's been faint praise but no follow up in commitments for resupplying Israel should the retaliation drag on.

A war of attrition should be a big concern. The Iran-Iraq war lasted 8 years. The Iranians do have staying power. Israel hasn't endured a war of attrition because its military analysts believe they would lose such a war. That's why they have concentrated on massive first strikes.

The military analyst on the webinar that I was listening suggested the best outcome would be for a quick cease fire and an agreement with Iran that Trump has been urging. That's not going to happen. Iran has indicated they have suspended negotiations with the US. Israel's problem is that there are plenty of civilian targets in Israel for Iran to hit but there are not many more leadership people left in Iran to target.
