Double failure -- should not have gotten through TSA screening without a boarding pass and should not have been able to get past the agents and onto a plane at the gate without a boarding pass.Delta uses facial recognition for boarding at some airports (including JFK) and does not look at the paper or electric boarding pass. This seems to make it easier for someone to wander onto a plane when the boarding gate agents get distracted for some reason or another. I don't know whether this technology was in use for this incident, but it almost certainly was with the stowaway to Paris a few weeks ago. |
