So what is your point?Third trimester abortions are almost all associated with some kind of awful event. Typically, the baby is going to die no matter what, but the abortion is needed to keep the mother from dying or from serious injury. Sure, I'd call such a fetus a baby. I have a great niece who was born by Caesarian delivery in roughly week 28, barely into the third trimester. Mom and (especially) baby spent quite a bit of time in the hospital but both are fine now. But my great niece was a fairly healthy fetus. What if she hadn't been, but was clearly going to die no matter what? Should the mother's life have been put at massive risk by not allowing an abortion at all, or not allowing it until the mother was almost dead? Some states say yes. |
