The biggest driver (pun intended) of this is the lack of production has drastically increased the cost of replacement parts so more vehicles are being declared total losses.According to a piece I read in (IIRC) Jalopnik, 25% of crash claims result in total losses today vs. 10% pre-Covid. Replacement parts can be impossible to obtain. Another consequence of Covid is that driving seems to be much worse and there is still a lot less police enforcement than before. |
