Records from preceding administrations become the purview of the next administration, which is why Biden chose to make them available to the J6 committee. Trump was asserting "executive privilege" in the present, which he does not have. In any event, SCOTUS ruled in both US v. Nixon and Trump's case that executive privilege cannot be used to cover up evidence of criminal behavior, so even if Trump were still in office today (as Nixon was in early 1974), he couldn't have hidden behind executive privilege, anyway.
