Manhattan has always been part of a single city since 1664.Bronx joined NYC earlier than the other boroughs. Brooklyn was a unified city slightly before it was annexed to NYC. I believe that Staten Island actually used the Queens system for a long time, but switched to a single “city” by the time ZIP codes were developed. So I just assume that Queens was too far gone by then. |
