A driver on a city street should always expect a pedestrian to step into the street and should always be prepared to take corrective action.I assume you drive 10mph and are prepared to stop on a dime. Most of us drive 30mph (the legal limit) traffic permitting - at that speed it is not possible to stop immediately. Even if you brake hard the momentum of the car alone will cause it to skid and still hit whatever is in front of it. |
