Circa 1969 I walked from PABT to the BMT subway, using 41st street. I was probably relatively safe because I didn't look rich or like a totally easy target. But the entire block from 8th to 7th was full of loitering young men who didn't look like they'd ever worked a regular job. It was very unsettling. |
