Do we even have a mask mandate in NYS or is it just the establishment's choice.My understanding is NY has a mandate. It is not enforced, in the sense of a store owner being given a summons, but it gives more authority than basic trespassing law for a store manager to toss out an unmasked customer. In the last year, in many cases of states without mask mandates, as tore owner could not get police cooperation in kicking out an unmasked customer. As for outside, I think the density of people on the sidewalk is less where you are than where I am. I've encountered tens of thousands of people (crossing paths within less than 10 feet) outside in the last year. |
