Back in the 80's they were $100 each so they must be much higher now. I remember a radio run we had in the 73rd Pct in Brownsville. We get a radio call for a larceny at Livonia & Rockaway. When we get there we're met by a white guy in a suit and tie. We even joked among ourselves that he's lucky he's not lying on the sidewalk bleeding.Well he says he's a store defective for the Waldbaums company and points to a Key Food and says they have 15 Waldbaums shopping carts. He says they're worth $100 each or $1,500 and if they don't give them back he'll press charges for possession of stolen property. We go in and a very fat Mideastern owner says they're his and he got them with the store when he bought the store. We showed him the plaques on the baby seat saying "property of Waldbaums" and after a while arguing with him, he was even crying, he gave them back. The defective hired a bunch of local youths to wheel them back to Canarsie!! |
