Trump and McCarthy were in a shouting match with McCarthy pleading with him to call him off. Trump refused for hours.

Acquitting an act of Insurrection makes this one a dress rehearsal for the next one by the next Trump, such as Cruz, Graham, Lee, or Hawley.
