If correct, the fact that there is no crime of "extortion" in certain penal codes, does not mean that extortion does not exist. Extortion is an activity well-defined in any dictionary. And that kind of activity is generally a criminal offense, even if the penal code doesn't call it extortion.I will also take an L train east to Canarsie, even though officially it's south. Civilians don't need to adhere to official definitions when there is a very sensible English language word that isn't used officially. |
