Pure speculation on my part, it wouldn't suprise me that some elements of the ultra left put the squeeze on network suits a/c the use of the word "Christmas"...

The Great Pumpkin will also be streamed free to Apple TV.

So much for your speculation regarding Christmas..

It looks like the Charles Schultz estate got a better offer from Apple.
