The victims usually didn't talk, especially not to their parents, until they were older. There have been descriptions about how predators operate. They inch their way in, and if the kid ever, ever says stop it or I'll tell my parents, the predator stops (and apologizes profusely if necessary about how his intentions were misunderstood) and goes on to another victim.A long-time friend of my wife's says that a priest on LI who was publicly exposed was in her parish. She says she was with him alone once when she was about 13, and he acted really weird, and she made sure never to be alone with him again. But she didn't tell anyone. |
