Excel purposely includes this error for backwards compatibility.I was thinking WTF? Excel only goes back to 1/1/1900, so how much backwards compatibility does that provide? But OK, it provides compatibility with Lotus 1-2-3. It's all their fault. I am flabbergasted Lotus and Excel didn't allow dates in the 19th century. At the time Lotus was developed (and even Excel), plenty of people were still alive who were born before 1900. I wasn't using spreadsheets with date of birth data then, but it must have been an awful inconvenience for users. |
