True. But Trump saying that Democrats were engaged in a hoax (to make covid-19 sound worse than it really was) made the situation worse.

It turns out the Democrats weren't excessively alarmist - they weren't alarmist enough. But Trump called them hoaxers for the alarm they did raise.
