Commercial airspace was shut down for 34 day after 9/11.The NEC was shut down for 4 days after Amtrak's 188 crash until ATC was implemented on that curve. During WWII air raid drills, you could be told to buy blackout shades and pull them down on command. You also were not allowed to smoke outside. My Grandfather was a local warden in Lawrence, LI and he stamped out many a cigarette butt. Yes the federal government can do that. Libertarian bullshit has no meaning. |
