Honorable mention :)That sounds like a cruise my mother took in September 2001. Sailed from NYC. She got back to NY early the morning of 9/8/01, but her flight back to South Florida didn't leave until the evening. Our cousin, who at the time was a MaBSTOA B/O, picked her up at the dock, and since there was some time, drove by the WTC. They didn't get out just drove by. At the time he was working the M10 which had it's layover by the WTC (I rode with him once in July 1991). Well we all know what happened 3 days later :( My mother was glad that he took her by there after what happened later. He worked a "hawk" (I think that's the term for an owl run) on the M10, so he worked the night of the 10th into the early hours of the 11th, and was off duty when the planes hit. Of course, the M10 did not return to the WTC for a long time. I think it turned at 14th St. At the next pick, he bid another route (possibly the M79, I think he was out of Quill Depot). Eventually, he retired from MTA, unfortunately we have lost touch with him. |
