The Republicans and the rest of the right wing were very concerned about the debt, since they kept lobbying for a balanced budget. Coincidentally (not), that's about the time Obama was dealing with the Great Recession, when cutting spending would have made the recession worse. Now, according to all those RWers, the economy is going great and unemployment is at historic lows. Where are all those fiscal conservatives now? Oh, yeah, they want to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid right after passing a huge, unpaid for, tax cut. That's fiscal conservatism for you! |
