Posted by cortelyounext on Sat Aug 24 10:53:43 2019 I was sitting in my jumpseat facing aft waiting to begin my Business Class service, the so called Elegance in the Air. I got tired of staring directly into the bulkhead wall so I got to thinking about why the airplane never flies the shortest distance to the destination but instead goes in a curved line. You can clearly see it on the map in the back of the magazine. Even I knew in elementary school that a straight line is the shortest distance.between two points... and don’t tell me it is because of the wind because it happens every flight.
