"Hispanic" refers to Spanish-speaking origins, and as such, includes Spain, but not Brazil. Latino/Latina/Latinx refers to Latin American origin, and includes lingual origins other than Spanish.

In any case, since we do not conclusively know which gender identity or binary a given Latinx person uses, the newer term is more readily applicable.
