But in each of these cases I have a right to come before a judge; I have waived it or that right has become totally unnecessary. SHS is implicitly saying that you can have due process even if you don't have the right to see a judge. PS. I know there are some products I can only buy if I waive my right to go before a judge. But those are civil matters, not matters involving my liberty. So I still believe I am correct in considering SHS's statement to be an out-and-out lie. In the context of immigration matters, there is no due process without being able to appear in front of a judge. The fact that they could drop all charges and welcome you into the country with open arms doesn't make her statement truthful. |
