This is a perception that isn't going to change, regardless of you try to parse it. You get apension from the government in any capacity beyond rockstar level elected office, it's considered civil service.

It nothing to be ashamed of. If you are, which you seem to be expressing by continuing a meaninglss tirade, then you really needed to be in another line of work.
