German student friends were always asking her to translate lyrics into German. The example I remember was that they especially asked her to translate "Whiter Shade of Pale." She tried to tell them the song was Scheiße Worte, mostly meaningless lyrics* but they wanted to know anyway.*Although like Ravi Shankar's music they probably began to seem profound given enough of the popular recreational drugs of the day. |
