I made this table. The first five counties are the five boroughs from most to least populous, followed by the rest of the metro area, followed by the rest of the state. The percentage refers to the percentage of the population held by that counties and all those in the list before it.
County | Population | Cumulative | Percentage | Kings | 2,504,700 | 2,504,700 | 12.93% | Queens | 2,230,722 | 4,735,422 | 24.44% | New York | 1,585,873 | 6,321,295 | 32.62% | Bronx | 1,385,108 | 7,706,403 | 39.77% | Richmond | 468,730 | 8,175,133 | 42.19% | Suffolk | 1,493,350 | 9,668,483 | 49.89% | Nassau | 1,339,532 | 11,008,015 | 56.81% | Westchester | 949,113 | 11,957,128 | 61.70% | Orange | 372,813 | 12,329,941 | 63.63% | Rockland | 311,687 | 12,641,628 | 65.24% | Dutchess | 297,488 | 12,939,116 | 66.77% | Putnam | 99,710 | 13,038,826 | 67.29% | Erie | 919,040 | 13,957,866 | 72.03% | Monroe | 744,344 | 14,702,210 | 75.87% | Onondaga | 467,026 | 15,169,236 | 78.28% | Albany | 304,204 | 15,473,440 | 79.85% | Oneida | 234,878 | 15,708,318 | 81.06% | Saratoga | 219,607 | 15,927,925 | 82.20% | Niagara | 216,469 | 16,144,394 | 83.31% | Broome | 200,600 | 16,344,994 | 84.35% | Ulster | 182,493 | 16,527,487 | 85.29% | Rensselaer | 159,429 | 16,686,916 | 86.11% | Schenectady | 154,727 | 16,841,643 | 86.91% | Chautauqua | 134,905 | 16,976,548 | 87.61% | Oswego | 122,109 | 17,098,657 | 88.24% | Jefferson | 116,229 | 17,214,886 | 88.84% | Saint Lawrence | 111,944 | 17,326,830 | 89.41% | Ontario | 107,931 | 17,434,761 | 89.97% | Tompkins | 101,564 | 17,536,325 | 90.50% | Steuben | 98,990 | 17,635,315 | 91.01% | Wayne | 93,772 | 17,729,087 | 91.49% | Chemung | 88,830 | 17,817,917 | 91.95% | Clinton | 82,128 | 17,900,045 | 92.37% | Cattaraugus | 80,317 | 17,980,362 | 92.79% | Cayuga | 80,026 | 18,060,388 | 93.20% | Sullivan | 77,547 | 18,137,935 | 93.60% | Madison | 73,442 | 18,211,377 | 93.98% | Warren | 65,707 | 18,277,084 | 94.32% | Livingston | 65,393 | 18,342,477 | 94.66% | Herkimer | 64,519 | 18,406,996 | 94.99% | Washington | 63,216 | 18,470,212 | 95.31% | Columbia | 63,096 | 18,533,308 | 95.64% | Otsego | 62,259 | 18,595,567 | 95.96% | Genesee | 60,079 | 18,655,646 | 96.27% | Fulton | 55,531 | 18,711,177 | 96.56% | Franklin | 51,599 | 18,762,776 | 96.82% | Tioga | 51,125 | 18,813,901 | 97.09% | Chenango | 50,477 | 18,864,378 | 97.35% | Montgomery | 50,219 | 18,914,597 | 97.61% | Cortland | 49,336 | 18,963,933 | 97.86% | Greene | 49,221 | 19,013,154 | 98.12% | Allegany | 48,946 | 19,062,100 | 98.37% | Delaware | 47,980 | 19,110,080 | 98.62% | Orleans | 42,883 | 19,152,963 | 98.84% | Wyoming | 42,155 | 19,195,118 | 99.06% | Essex | 39,370 | 19,234,488 | 99.26% | Seneca | 35,251 | 19,269,739 | 99.44% | Schoharie | 32,749 | 19,302,488 | 99.61% | Lewis | 27,087 | 19,329,575 | 99.75% | Yates | 25,348 | 19,354,923 | 99.88% | Schuyler | 18,343 | 19,373,266 | 99.98% | Hamilton | 4,836 | 19,378,102 | 100.00% |
So the “Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District” contains 67.29% of the state’s entire population. If you expand this to include the most populous counties in the rest of the state, all of which voted for Hillary: Erie (Buffalo), Monroe (Rochester), Onondaga (Syracuse) and Albany, you get up to 79.85%
Basically, no one lives in those red counties. Why are you so fixated on counting the vote of empty space?
